Duterte's Tutuban-Malolos Railway Project to be constructed by Japan this year

by

The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will start the major railway project of President Rodrigo Duterte by the fourth quarter of 2017.

The Tutuban-Malolos railway project is part of the P8-Trillion plan to modernize the country's infrastructure network that was denied by the previous administrations.

DOTr spokesperson Cherie Mercado said that JICA had completed the study of the project. The funds of the railway project will be funded through Official Development Assistance (ODA) by JICA.

November 2015, the administration of President Noynoy Aquino signed an agreement to provide the Philippines a loan up to 241.991 Billion yen for the North-South Commuter Railway Project (Malolos-Tutuban). The project was allegedly tainted by corruptions.

Meanwhile, President Duterte, in August 11, 2016 met with Japan Minister of Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida at the Presidential Guesthouse in Panacan, Davao City and discussed the project.

Aside from the project Tutuban-Malolos, the Japanese government is also helping in the feasibility study of a 55-kilometer railway line from Malolos, Bulacan to Clark.

Japan also offered to build the first 100 kilometers of the 2,000 kilometers Mindanao Railway system.

According to DOTr and JICA, "Special Terms for Economic Partnership (STEP) will be used and applied to Tutuban-Malolos Railway project.

It is expected that high technology from Japan such as construction techniques for elevated railways, efficient signal systems and rolling stock will be utilized.

A Ritual Where Their Deads are Raised From Their Graves- Indonesia

by

Most of us,when our love ones die, they are laid to rest forever. But in Indonesia the dead gets many chances to see their families again

Ma'nene-its a ritual where the corpses get cleaned-families raises their dead relatives from their graves, dress them in new clothes, fix their hair and repair their coffins. They they walk the dead around the province so they can observe the living.Reports say that the Ma'nene ritual is more important than marriage and birth in Toraja culture.

Deceased loved ones are walked in straight lines around the region.

Maybe for us we find this practice so disrespectful and even unsanitary. But there’s something solemnly beautiful about families that continue to care for those they love even after their deaths.

A man brushes the hair of a dead relative, perhaps his mother or grandmother.

What you guys can say something about this?

What it Feels Like to Have a Granny Girlfriend???

by

Forget Harold and Maude. How about Kyle and Marjorie?

Kyle Jones from Pittsburgh is a 31-year-old man with an nontraditional romantic leaning towards older women -- much older women.

In 2009, Jones met 91-year-old Marjorie McCool at the book store where she worked. The two have engaged in a romantic, physical relationship ever since, and are happily dating as each brings something unique to the relationship.

At three times Jones' age, McCool is already a great grandmother, but Jones finds her lines, wrinkles, platinum hair and natural hanging neck skin attractive. Jones says he offers older women a different kind of experience than they're used to with adventure and fun things to do.

Likewise, McCool says dating somebody younger makes her feel alive again. "The physical side of the relationship is wonderful. I amaze myself and he amazes me, and I like it," says McCool in the video above.

Jones first noticed his attraction towards older women at a young age and though it took his mother, Ceceila Jones, some getting used to, she ultimately accepts her son's lifestyle. McCool is also a mother and says she sometimes feels like Jones is just another one of her children.

"I sometimes feel like he's another son, until we hop in bed. Then I feel different."

The two lovebirds are not monogamous, and Jones is also engaged in a relationship with 68-year-old Anna Ronald, who he met on a dating site.

They like to smooch, loudly.

Jones has encountered criticism, but defends his choices. "The most common [criticism] is that I'm a vulture," says Jones. "You're after money, you're after inheritance. I hear that all the time, but it's not true at all. I do this because I like it and they like it too."

To each his own.

Scientists Discover Reset Button For The Body's Clock

by

Jetting half way across the world, shift work and those crazy all-nighters are all things that can upset our body’s daily cycle, or circadian rhythm. Over the years, scientists have slowly been piecing together the components of our “biological clocks” that drive these rhythms, and we now have a pretty good understanding of how they are coordinated. Now, scientists have discovered what is effectively a “reset button” in mice, which could eventually help researchers develop novel treatments that correct mismatches between the environment and our internal body clocks.

Circadian rhythms are physiological, mental and behavioral changes that follow an approximately 24-hour cycle, which are primarily dictated by changes in light in the environment. These oscillations are driven by groups of interacting molecules in the body which are collectively known as biological clocks, and it is the job of a master pacemaker located in the brain to coordinate and regulate these clocks to make sure the body is in sync.

It’s been known for some time that this “master clock” is a bundle of neurons in a region called the suprachaismatic nucleus (SCN); however, scientists didn’t know whether altering the way that these cells fire could change how it operates. Now, researchers from Vanderbilt University have demonstrated that it is indeed possible to control the clock by selectively switching on and off this population of cells, which effectively mimics their daytime and nighttime activity.

In order to manipulate the activity of these neurons, the researchers used a sophisticated technique known as optogenetics. This involves inserting genes that code for light-sensitive proteins into distinct populations of cells, creating a bundle of neurons that now respond to light in a certain way. Then, after implanting an optical fiber into the brain, scientists can use lasers to either stimulate (switch on) or inhibit (switch off) these cells.

As described in Nature Neuroscience, the researchers found that by artificially stimulating the SCN neurons, they were able to manipulate the mouse’s sleep/wake rhythms, effectively resetting the master clock. This was particularly interesting because previous work suggested that the firing activity of these cells was only an output of the clock’s activity.

“Of course, this exact approach isn’t ready for human use yet,” said study author Michael Tackenberg. “But others are making progress toward eventually using optogenetics as therapy.” Tackenberg is now taking the work forward by examining whether mice suffering from seasonal affective disorder—a type of depression that has a seasonal pattern—respond to the stimulation.

Nun stabs 7-year-old boy while teaching students about the suffering of Jesus

by

A nun was fired from her job as a teacher after stabbing a boy during a lesson about the suffering of Jesus.

Sister Ludovita, 30, of Kysucke Nove Mesto in northern Slovakia, was teaching religious education classes when she stabbed a boy on the hand with a needle to show how Jesus suffered

Slovakia asked the unsuspecting student, who was identified as 7-year-old Adam Celko, to come to the front of the class.

She then took a needle out of her bag and to the horror of the student and his classmates, she rammed it into the child's hand, saying that this was how Jesus suffered and he would too if he misbehaved.

When Adam Celko got home, his mother, Helena, 30, saw the wound on his hand and asked how it happened. The boy told his mother that the nun stabbed him.

“I was completely in shock. I mean, what was she thinking,” the mother said.

A school spokesperson said: “We strongly disapprove of this kind of teaching method.”

The nun defended her action and said that the class had been learning about Jesus Christ and personal sin.

She added that the children had been invited to voluntarily experience mild pain so they could empathize with the theme.

She claimed that the students pricked themselves by choice and were not forced.

“Either way, it is inappropriate behavior and will not be tolerated in this school,” the school spokesperson said.
